I asked you, the church, to tell us what you thought our church was guilty of and you came out in force. 19 people voted and here are the results.
First off, it makes me so proud to know that 37% of the people voting thought our church didn’t actually carry any of the negative traits in the poll. So, do you think the people who voted this way just aren’t seeing it, or are they maybe not as picky as some others might be?
Because, there was a tie for the most votes with another 37% going towards our church being “Old-Fashioned”. Is it the music, the preaching, or something else that makes us old fashioned? Something else to consider, is everything “Old-Fashioned” bad.
24% of you thought that EBC is “Anti-Homosexual”. Do you think it’s coming from the pulpit and leadership or is it more among the members? Where do you draw the line between lovingly sharing God’s word about that particular lifestyle and being negatively labeled, “Anti-homosexual”, can it be done?
Another 24% of you said the church is “Judgmental”, which isn’t surprising considering that kind of been what the church has been called since people have been sinning. What does EBC have to do to never be considered “Judgmental”? Is it possible to confront sin or talk about Christ without someone feeling like they’ve been judged?
Thankfully, the second lowest vote tally belongs to “Hypocritical”. So even though people think we have some flaws, at least they don’t think we’re not living by our word, flaws and all. We walk our talk and that’s not necessarily a good thing if our talk is not Godly.
Last, but not least, no one thinks (thankfully!) that we are too involved in politics. Which may or may not be a good thing. Should the church be having a say as far as this coming election? With that said, make sure you take the new quiz about what you think the most important issues are this election .
