Poll Results: Your Vote Counts!

Poll Results No Comments »

Man, you guys really came out in force for this one.  Everyone has an opinion when it comes to politics, and you guys and girls are no exception.  Thanks to all of you who took the time to vote and make sure that you vote on our new poll.  I’d love to see what you like and what maybe isn’t your favorite part of Wednesday nights.

About these results though, 87% of you are concerned about the economy!  Do you think that Obama will be able to turn it around?  Which leads to the next 73% of you who wanted a President with Leadership Experience.  I’d love to hear from you guys and see if you think Obama has the chops to be President.

Tied with Leadership was a concern about the management of the current war.  Are you all happy about Obama, do you think he’ll take the country the right way with foreign policy and deal with the current war appropriately?

Then we have religion at 67%.  What is Obama’s particular views.  He’s a member of a liberal Christian church, but that doesn’t stop people from saying he’s a Muslim.  What do you think, do his religious views match up with yours?  For me, my view of abortion is deeply rooted in my religious views.  With another 67% of the vote you thought it was just as important as religion.  So do you think that Obama will be a positive or negative force about abortion?

Health Care (53%)  being slightly less important but still trumping Immigration (40%).  It’s funny because I thought immigration would have been more important.  I think 6 months ago it would have beaten out the economy.  What do you think?

Then there is the Environment.  Not a lot of love for ol’ Momma Earth with you all.  She only gets 40% of your vote.  Which is sizable, but still in the bottom three.

Rounding out the bottom you’ve got two randomly dissimilar topics.  Gay Marriage and Social Security, one is very much so a moral and ethical choice which raises questions about the nature of people, while the other is all about money.  They respectively got 20 and 13 percent of your votes.

So, what do you think?  Would you change your vote now?  Has anything become more important since the election?  Leave your thoughts in the comment box!

Poll Results: You be the music minister.

I had the pleasure of getting to fill in the position of worship Leader at our church.  I gained a new found respect for all that the person in  that position has to do.  It’s a lofty position, but it’s a lot of fun as well.  So, let’s see how you guys would run things if you got the job.

To start off, thankfully no one thinks music should be completely left out of the church service.  There are plenty of psalms and other scripture that say we should praise God with music. (For example, Ephesians 5:19)

The next lowest vote winner, and this was to my surprise, ended in a two way tie between Hymns and Contemporary Radio type music.  I thought that either one of those might have gotten more votes.  But, at 1 vote a piece, they are our second to last finisher.

Just edging out the Hymns and CCM was the surprise of the whole poll for me.  There is a strong Southern Gospel movement within the youth group.  If they had the job we’d get a lot more from the red book.  Which, by the way, would make Jennifer ecstatic.

Then there are those of you who aren’t t so dyed in the wool for one particular style.  You think we should mix it up and with an overwhelming percent of the vote, you’d most likely be running the worship service and that’s exactly what we’d hear.

Thanks to everyone who voted and don’t forget to vote for the new poll about how our church may be viewed by outsiders.  Also, why not leave a comment about what songs you’d like to hear in church.

Poll Results: Chores

Poll Results No Comments »

Well the votes are tallied and Cleaning Litterboxes just edges out doing Yard Work for least favorite chore.  That means that there are some people who would rather get their faces down in feces than pick up some leaves.

Next up after that was Vacuuming with 13% of the vote, cats and dogs hate the sound of the dreaded vacuum but it’s music to most peoples ears.

The one that gets me is that most people like Scrubbing Dishes.  Although, given the option between messing around with poop or washing some dishes off I’d take dishes almost every time.

Which is why I thought Taking out the trash would get more than one vote, it brings all those other nasty things together in one place.  Maybe there is poop and old food in the bag?  Who knows!

Last but not least, with no votes, everyone loves to dust.  It’s like the cruise control of modern chores.  You can practically dance as you perform this one.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to vote in the most recent poll.  Make sure you give your opinion in the next.

Poll Results: Raptor Shirt

Your votes have been tallied and and the winner is (Drum Roll) . . .

The orange and brown Raptor T-Shirt. That’s right with an overwhelming number of votes, this fine example of modern dinosaur art will be your new youth group t-shirt. We are going to start getting them made right now and should have them really soon.

For those of you who didn’t vote for the orange and brown. Don’t be sad, we may make a second run and include the other designs if this one is well received. So, if you get a Orange on then you have a better chance of getting a pink or blue one.

And finally, I leave you with a picture of our winning color scheme. Don’t forget to vote in the new poll. It’s about VBS and this year Kristy Snyder is in charge and VBS is going to be sooo much cooler than anything I ever do with it. I’m sad that I can’t come all the time because of the wedding.
