So, I don’t know if any of you watch American Idol. I watched it a lot until this recent season. I turned it on again during the Idol gives back program and enjoyed it. Then at the end I heard some familiar chords. I thought to myself, “Self. . .are they about to jam out a worship song?” Immediately my answer was yes, until they took Jesus’ name out of the song. At first it slipped by me, because I was still kind of amazed that they were singing the song.

Come to find out, they made good the next night and re-performed the song adding the purloined passage. This time it had the line “My Jesus, My Savior”, right out there for everyone to hear.

So, my question to you, is it cool that American Idol is singing a praise song or does it just mean that the songs just part of our society like, “We Three Kings” or other Christ specific Christmas songs?
